O-Ring cord EPDM | EPDM | -50°C+150°C |
EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Rubber) is a synthetic rubber and this elastomer can be cross linked with sulphur or peroxide cured.
O-ring cord in EPDM is primarily used for special dimensions or instead of deliveries of standard O-rings which first have to be ordered and which are therefore not available for immediate delivery. Because Cord O-rings are cheap and simple, they have a very wide area of application in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
As they take up less space and provide two-sided sealing compared with other sealing elements, O-rings make designing easier. Obtaining good results from O-ring applications depends on suitable measurements, choosing correct materials, and suitable surface quality on metal parts.
PROFILE
PRODUCT ADVANTAGES
• Can be used both for hydraulic and pneumatic system
• Can be used both for static and dynamic applications
• Both for rod and piston application
• Wide compound range
• Wide range of dimensions
• Easy installation and removal
• Excellent resistance to heat, water, ozone, ageing and weathering
• Good resistance to steam and polar substances
APPLICATION
Used in almost every industry but especially in non-moving machinery and in static sealing applications, e.g. as flange or cover seals.
EPDM Cord O-rings are known for good application with hot water and brake fluids (based on glycol). EPDM has excellent electrical insulating properties. Good mechanical attributes and good ozone, ageing and weathering resistance.
INSTALLATION
O-rings are fitted into the groove by hand. It is very important that the assembly tools must be of soft material and have no sharp edges. Before installation all individual parts of the seal must be lubricated. Be sure not to use a lubricant that will cause deterioration of the seal.
SPECIAL APPROVALS – FOOD-GRADE-QUALITY
We also stock specially approved materials for the food industry;
NOTES
EPDM O-rings must not be used for mineral oil, grease and fuels.
